THE OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POST IS:-
* To analyse and continually review the experience and outcomes from
education for Travellers and Roma children and young people in County
Donegal.
* To develop a strategy to support the retention of young Travellers
& Roma in the formal education system and to address the significant
inequity in outcomes for young Travellers in formal education.
* To improve the health and well being of Travellers through
participation and socialisation within the formal and non - formal
education systems.
* To ensure necessary family supports are in place to support
meaningful participation in the education system.
CRITERIA:-
* Community Development/Youth Work degree/PGD or other relevant
qualification to the roles.
* Two years? experience of working in a relevant field.
* A knowledge of and commitment to Human Rights and Equality.
* An understanding of relevant policy and the Traveller and Roma
communities including children and young people for the purpose of the
Education Development Worker.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:-
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Excellent skills in advocacy and report writing.
* High level of proficiency in I.T. skills.
* A commitment to the principles of Community Development, social
justice and Human Rights.
* An ability to work with and support families with complex needs
with care, empathy and empowerment.
Must have a full driving licence and will be expected to indemnify the
organisation on their insurance policy and undergo Garda vetting.
The salary will be in line with the pay scales for the posts set by
the company.
